Nashville Flute Studio

Rama is a consummate professional and virtuoso on flute. I needed help with increasing my skills as a performer so I searched YouTube. ...I was so impressed with Rama’s clear, expressive, luminous style that I applied to his studio. I find him to be attentive, responsive, and highly knowledgeable as a teacher and as a performing musician. He is very personable, approachable, and most important...kind, happy, a joy to work with. He put me at my ease immediately. His enthusiasm for music is contagious. I play so much better now. What and how I play in the Symphony today, that makes me feel confident, I learned from him.  I look forward to continuing to work with Rama.

I have two things to say about Rama. He’s funny and he tries to work around your barriers.

Lessons with Rama were so fun and varied. I regularly overheard a mix of flute, laughter, patient encouragement, and teaching on any number of music-related topics—whether composition, music history, or a specific musical style. Rama is great with kids and impressed us as both a flute teacher and a musician.

MISSION

I support a robust, diverse community of Nashville-area flutists.

  • Support: As a teacher, I use grounded, Socratic teaching to help you find a sustainable musical lifestyle.

  • Robust: As a friend, I connect you together into a dense “village” where you’re on the studio radar and your colleagues cheer for you.

  • Diverse: As a musician, I give you focused tools to explore and express your unique identity.

  • Community: As a citizen, I commit to helping you get to know one another, using face-to-face and online modalities.

Rama is a patient and motivated flute teacher. He takes a comprehensive approach to his flute lessons, and focuses on the listening, reading and theoretical aspects of music, apart from focusing on playing technique.
